Cub Carol Service

6 December 2014

Over 100 boys and girls from the Lowestoft District Cub Scouts sung their hearts out at their annual carol service held at Pakefield Church and they were treated to a special appearance from Canon Bob Baker’s loveable chum ‘Scuffy’.

The youngsters were held spellbound as Canon Bob brought Scuffy into the pulpit and enjoyed some Christian banter with him.

After last years service was cancelled due to torrential rain and warnings of the tidal surge – this year there were no such problems.

Proud parents helped to swell the congregation and joined in with the singing, which was accompanied by the Salvation Army Band from Beccles.

As well as traditional carols the cubs were also treated to an on-screen cartoon which told the Christmas story in a different way.

At the end of the service ADC (Cubs) Paul Cator presented the Cubs ‘Pack of the Year’ Cup to Andrew Bailey, Cub Leader of 2nd Carlton Colville. The cup is awarded to the pack amassing most points throughout the year in five competitions – swimming, handicraft, the quiz, 5-a-side football and tenpin bowling.

The evening was rounded off with the youngsters being treated to squash and biscuits
