Freshwater Fishing Success for Scouts

14 May 2015

On a sunny, but windy day the Lowestoft Scout freshwater fishing competition took place at Field Farm Fisheries, Wrentham.

Twelve scouts representing 5 troops choose their pitches at 8.30am and fished until 12.30.

Between the anglers a good haul of fish was caught, including Perch, Roach and Rudd and some specimen Goldfish. The competition was closely fought until the final whistle, with little weight difference between the catches.

The trophy for the biggest haul of the day went to William Jarrett, 14th Lowestoft, with 6lb. Jack Benson, 1st Oulton Broad, in 2nd place with 5lb 9oz and Sam Reeve, 14th Lowestoft, in 3rd place with 5lb 5oz.

This year a new trophy for the ‘heaviest fish of the day’ was presented by Angie Marjoram in memory of her husband David, a leader and supporter of the 14th Lowestoft Group. David had been a keen fisherman and had supported the organisation of the fishing events. Jack Benson won the trophy with a weight of 3lb 8oz.

Thanks goes to Steve Reeve for running the competition for the District.
