Cycling expeditions have become a tradition for one local scout group and this year they explored the countryside of the Waveney Valley.

The intrepid bikers consisting of one cub, five scouts and four leaders set off from 1st Pakefield Scout H.Q. on their two-day cycle adventure.

Day one took the group through Beccles, Geldeston and Bungay along minor country roads, only stopping three times en-route for photographs and refreshment. By early afternoon the group had reached their destination, camping for the night at 1st Earsham Scout H.Q.

Rested and re-fuelled the group set off home on a different route via Ilketshall, Brampton, Sotterly and Mutford, finishing at Pakefield early on Sunday afternoon.

Overall the group rode a distance of 50 miles with only minor mechanical hitches and minimal moaning, a great achievement for all.

This was the third cycle expedition that 1st Pakefield have completed, in previous years they have ridden from both Woodbridge and Norwich.

In the lead up to the ride scouts took part in sessions on road safety and cycle maintenance and were rewarded by being presented with cyclist activity and expedition challenge badges.
